My big hearted girl turns 7 💖💖

the little lady is 7! How!!??

We couldn’t decide on a theme this year, however Missy is always drawing love hearts and has the biggest heart I know! (We all say she should be a Teacher or Nurse when she grows up as she is so caring), so a heart theme it was!

It also helped that Poppies for Grace has the best range of love heart partyware!!

To celebrate, we hosted a little partay with a few School friends (and her cousin who flew down from Sydney).

I signed the girls up to one of the Poppies for Grace Craftathons….look into this for your kids!! Still a week left of heaps of fun craft ideas! We did the Sisko Chocolate session. The kids were given a round chocolate disk as their base and then chose their toppings (skittles, worms, gummies bears, maltesers etc), they then were given a piping bag and could pipe out chocolate to stick on their own toppings…so much fun! They could then choose glitter and sprinkles to finish their design.

After their creation they swirled chocolate on their hands and made their own hand print to take home.

The gang all come back to our house for treats and games. We played pin the horn on the unicorn and did a little craft.

I made some watermelon and strawberry skewers, heart fairy bread and picked up some gorgeous cupcakes and a 6 inch cake from Cupcake Central. I decorated the cake with a love heart cake topper and heart candles.

A few other cute treats were the heart shortbreads from Ikea and tiny teddies with little heart message lollies on top.

The chocolatiers left with party bags full of love heart bangles, and a little heart stationery kit from Kmart…and a few lollies of course!!

Very girly and fun!! Happy 7th bday to my No.1 girl x

My Smile with Your Smile

A smile can change someones day, however the perfect smile can change your day!

Over the years I have noticed a lot of movement in my teeth, the bottom ones are starting to cross over a little and front tooth is pertruding forward.

Instead of waiting and seeing if the movement continues, I have decided to jump on board with Your Smile Direct and give myself the best chance at the perfect smile!

The home process may seem daunting but is simple, and has easy to follow instructions for you to take your best impression.

Basically you are sent a box from Your Smile Direct consultant which contains the ingredients to make your moulds, teeth trays and all the information you need.  You follow the steps included… combining the “base with the catalyst” to make your impression, Pop in the tray and bite down for a few minutes.  You then wrap up and send back in anticipation of your retainers.

When the impressions are received by Your Smile Direct, the Orthodontic team develop a 3D scan of the moulds where they can create a customised treatment plan.  This treatment plan will then be sent to you via email (example below) for your approval.  This plan is a 3D visual of how your teeth look now and how they will gradually move throughout treatment until you reach your end result.

Once you are happy with your treatment plan and accept it, your aligners will then go into production and be sent out to you.

This can take roughly up to 3 weeks.  You will then receive all of your aligners in a box and are to wear each set for the prescribed amount of time.

As per below, I received 10 sets. The first 2 sets of aligners I wore for a month and then 2 weeks each for the rest until all 10 have been worn (the 10th set is a little thicker and is to be continued for use as an aligner for bedtime).

The aligners can be a little tight to start but gradually they ease as your teeth start to move. After a day of the new set the tightness subsides and they become part of your every day.

So after 5 months, I just finished my tenth aligner which I now just wear at night to keep all the good work in place!! Couldn’t be happier!!

Melb life with MG and The Minis

We are 5 months into our new life in Melbourne and enjoying our new surroundings and neighbourhood.

The kids are settled into School and routines and the time has come for a second car (husband needs one for work).

I have been lucky enough to test drive the new MG ZS! And loving it!

Funnily enough when I first picked up the MG and pulled up at our place, my neighbour was out front and I quote “nice wheels”! Good start!!

The MG ZS has all the mod cons including Apple Play for my all important directions (yep still only familiar with a 5 km radius from home) + music, messages etc.

What I love about the MG ZS is the stylish and compact exterior of the car, yet super roomy inside for the kids and all their gear! Scooters etc fit no problem in the boot.

My favourite features are the keyless entry (stop/start button), huge sun roof, sporty exterior, leather upholstery and ease of driving! (In the words of Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman “It corners like it’s on rails)”.

Speaking of rails, the trams are another little test of my driving skills but I have embraced them and quite like another aspect to the road.

I think this car ticks all the boxes for us! Easy to drive, spacious yet not too big. Perfect to zip into the City (never fear those tight parking spots as our friend the reverse camera is here)! Meanwhile, roomy and comfy for road trips and everyday busy life as a family of 5! Last but not least (and most importantly) she’s a good looking vehicle!

Taming the mane with Delorenzo

As School starts back on Tuesday (insert happy dance emoji)!! It was time to start detangling and de-dreading some of Sages’ beach hair!!

As many people with girls would know, brushing out knots can sometimes cause screams and tears which resemble something out of a horror film!!

I was introduced to De Lorenzo’s Detangling Duo and have not looked back!!The Infinite Detangler is a leave in detangling spray with organic Rosehip and wheat protein and I guarantee will remove knots without tears! (She even lets her brother do it)!!

The spray has a lovely smell and will be a lifesaver for those rushed School mornings! I will be throwing another one in the swimming bag too.

Gorgeous colour combo and great little back to school pressie!

Do yourself a favour mums!! Link below.

Xmas 2017

Well the Christmas whirlwind has been and gone!! I was honoured to be interviewed by Sheridan Australia to share our plans for the silly season and some favourite Xmas memories.

Also just a quick note to thank you for your support in 2017 and looking forward to an inspiring and happy 2018.

Interview below….

1. For us, Christmas is about being together and spending time with loved ones, what does Christmas mean to you?

Christmas to me is the excitement of children, spending time as a family and surrounded by yummy food!! From the setting up of the Santa sacks on Xmas eve, putting out cookies and milk for Santa and Their little faces Xmas morning…it’s all priceless.

2. How will you and your family be spending Christmas this year?

This year is very different for us as we have just moved to Melbourne and left all our family and friends in Sydney. This year I’m hoping for a lovely slow Christmas morning, packing up a picnic of prawns, champers and white Xmas and hitting Brighton Beach. Possibly ending “bad mums 2” style with Chinese takeaway!

3. What is one of your favourite memories of Christmas time?

My favourite memories are driving with the family to Penshurst to walk down the busy street of Xmas lights on Xmas eve.

Also setting the alarm with my brothers at 2am to sneak upstairs and look at our pressies. We were always so excited we could never get back to sleep.

4. How are you planning on styling your home this Christmas?

This Xmas I am keeping things simple. A small wooden tree from chalk and stone decorated with our favourite ornaments. I also made a decorated a simple wreath with Mum using Magnolias and Gardenias from my garden. Will also drape a few pretty lights around the living room and the front of the house.

I have never been into red and green, so Xmas is always a more white and bright theme for us.

Thanks again Sheridan! P.s your bed linen is amazing!!!

Wishing everyone a healthy & happy 2018 x b

Morning Tea with Mr Kipling

I hosted a Breast Cancer morning tea fundraiser last week and picked up some great treats, including cherry bakewells that even resemble ( • ) ( • ).

Love the idea of getting the girls together for tea, coffee and cake! But most importantly raising much needed funds for Breast Cancer!

To save my sanity….I picked up a gorgeous range of Mr Kipling cakes from Woolies (free of artificial colours and flavours) and we enjoyed a selection of mini vanilla fancies, choc cake, cherry bakewells, Angel slice and my fave French Early Grey tea and champas.

May I also point out that all these treats come packaged separately in bite size pieces so no need to even slice!!

School treats, morning teas, fundraisers or any excuse really! Yummy Mr Kipling’s is here in Aus so embrace the goodness x b

Highland Merchants Moss Vale

A 3 day getaway (kid free) ! Was just what the Dr ordered after a busy School term!

The husband and I thought we would try our luck with the last week of the Ski Season and make our way to Thredbo.

We dropped the kids to the in-laws on the way down (Southern Highlands) and always pop into The Highlands Merchant in Mossvale for coffee and cake! (Pic 1) Only and hour and half from here and we arrive at our fave… Hotel Hotel in Canberra.

A few highlights and must eats /

  • Italian and Sons – Amazing fresh Italian in Braddon. The crab and squid ink linguini was amazing!

The rest are all around New Acton where Hotel Hotel is located and is a very cool little area!

Mocan and Green Grout / fabulous den like restaurant with a morrocan vibe and great tapas style food.

Black Market / small, dark, intimate bar underneath A.Baker (also great cafe). Great for pre dinner drink or night cap! I had the Pink Panther… amazing Gin with pomegranate and a side of cotton candy!

Monster Bar and Kitchen / fabulous breakfast if staying in the hotel. Good coffee and super homemade crumpets!

We took the hotel bikes out for a ride around lake Burley Griffin which was a nice afternoon activity.

Thredbo / 19 years since I have been to Thredbo and not much has changed (except our super modern apartment which is a rarity amongst snow accom).

I came across The Eastern on Instagram and locked in the dates as soon as I could.

A little tricky to find but once inside is a real treat! Modern timber floors and ceiling, a mix of ply and white cement walls and a very functional super modern kitchen. The apartment is studio style so best for couples or small family.   Loved the modern white bathroom…with underfloor heating, stylish Scandi touches and lovely cozy bed!  not to mention the amazing views right across the snowy mountains and close proximity to Village and chairlift access. We booked this via airbandb and our host Monique was great!

Recommendations //

Coffee / Central Road 2625 – in the heart of the Village and local meeting place for coffee and brunch.

Merits/ top of Merits charlift and very popular for ski bunnies seeking warmth! Amazing hot choc with marshmallows, whipped cream and cherry (or a shot of liquor if your heart desires)

Sneaky schnapps or happy hour at The Alpine Hotel.

We were too tired to dine out and loved our cosy pad so made pizza and salad at home with a vino, followed by Netflix and Chill!!

A few people had recommend the sweet Country Cafe at Collector called Some Cafe… What a lovely find just off the Federal Highway!  All white Country cottage with gorgeous fresh blooms and delicious pastries on show. The avocado on rye with lemon, dukkah and egg was delish!

Next door is Collector Wines, small, white and just lovely! We tasted a few Vinos (and purchased a few of course! rude not to)! and hit the road back to those little humans called kids! Oh yeah I forgot about them! Ha!

Lovely escape to catch up with the husband but more importantly laugh at him on the slopes!!! X b
