Back in my fave city with my fave girls!! We had a tight 48 hour agenda and did Melb proud!
I didn’t land til 7pm Friday night but was plenty of time to drop my bags at our hotel in Flinders st – the new and very cool and convenient Hilton Doubletree opposite Flinders street station (plus a fresh warm cookie on checkin)!! A quick walk up to meet the girls for a pre dinner drink at Bertonis (outdoor bar) and soak up the atmosphere! After a vodka lime and antipasto plate we hit Supernormal! Super amazing! Beautifully fitted out New York style restaurant on Flinders lane serving modern Asian food and doing it all so well! We shared dumplings, sashimi, vege and meat dishes with a crisp white which was all truly delicious! Highly recommended!
Sat morning and true Melb style…But first coffee! We hit Dukes Coffee roasters for a takeaway (coffee institution) and after a bit of walking we ended up at Journal (cute cafe in the Melbourne City Library) for a yummy breaky of fresh juices and we all had a mix of savoury and sweet toast toppings!!
We shopped the Lanes, and was truly impressed by the enormous H&M that had taken over the old GPO centre and of course scored a few bargains! After a few hours of shopping it was of course lunch time so we headed to The Grain store for a civilized salad, glass of pimms and a blood orange cheesecake for dessert! Another great find down the other end of the city but well worth the 20 min walk!
A chill out back at the hotel and another little arvo wander before heading to the very cool Lucy Liu bar for a drink and dumplings – bright neon lights upon entrance and always packed to the brim with cool hipsters and a great vibe! We headed a few doors up to Woody P. For an Italian feast and a bottle of red! Perfecto! We then met up with a friend at the new Arbory bar…this was a real find! Only 6 months old, a super long bar on the Yarra, perfect spot for people watching by the river and taking in the South Melb atmosphere!
Beautiful skies woke us up Sunday to a lovely 21 degrees! A friend picked us up and drive us to Fitzroy for breakfast at The Breakfast Thieves (I had a quinoa porridge with banana and sugared almonds) and a wonder around Brinswick street. This is more of a grungy hip neighbourgood with lots of vintage and homewares stores plus the modern cool finds such as Apha 60 and Milk and Sugar.
We headed back to the city to hit Zara and a few other essentials before retreating to a rooftop bar for a drink (of course)! So cool sitting sky high and taking in the hip funky scene and overlooking Melb city! With an hour left we had a yummy salad at one of the cafés in the very cool Degraves street to soak up the atmosphere before leaving!
Nothing like shopping and giggling with the girls and a weekend of no responsibilities! We have decided this will be an annual affair!
