Here we are! our favourite place (maybe besides Noosa QLD)! We bought all 3 kids home from hospital to our little place in Cronulla and have really enjoyed the relaxed beach lifestyle! We have now moved closer to the city (for husbands work and a bit of a savings plan) but Cronulla is our heart and where we will call home again in a few years time!
So I thought I would give some tips on what to do in Cronulla with Kids and where the best coffee/food is etc…..if any other locals are reading this, be sure to throw in your faves too!
My first stop for coffee and a delish Salmon breaky plate full of Ricotta, eggs, roast veg, salmon and sourdough etc is HAM, Brothers Harry & Mario have set up such a light and airy cafe with delicious home cooked food (mostly by mum Kitty), great breakfast and lunch options and most importantly coffee! Ham has recently been renovated too, so lots more seating and outdoor dining which suits prams too!
We then usually head to South Cronulla park for a play on the equipment followed by the beach for swims.
There is a great walk that starts at the newly refurbed RSL in South Cronulla ‘The Esplanade” which again is pram friendly and takes you seaside towards lovely beaches such as Shelley which again has a great enclosed play park for kids….maybe stop at the Nuns Pool for coffee or lunch! Again a beautiful fit out, light, bright, water and park views and great food! The walk continues right up to Bass & Flinders point and finishes at Salmon Haul bay which is a beautiful little beach but a bit cliffy and stairs so not so good for kids here.
If you do get the chance for a shop, my favorites are:
Charbella Bubs – Best in kids fashion, home pieces and accessories! Bobo Choses, Alex & Ant, Coco and Ginger, Rock your Baby etc. Sisters Deb and Donna have a great eye for gorgeous pieces for the home, beautiful gifts and stuff that you won’t find in an everyday shop….Dont forget to head next door to Grind (the Locals Religion) for Coffee!!!
Apache Rose – Super cool designer brands again for kids and those with an eye for style…..Hidden in the back of an arcade off the mall, its worth popping in here to see the latest finds from the very helpful sister and mum team…..Kip & Co, Pop and Scott, Ladedah Kids and quirky finds from around the world!
Days Like These (next door to Ham)- For the simple but cool clothing for guys and gals…Zoe Karrson, The Horse watches, Valley sunnies, Zuitton for men etc etc
Roar – for the trendy brand conscious women. Think Bassike, Aesop, Camilla & Marc etc…A beautiful fitout and a delight to shop! Head next door to The Old Library for a vino and tapas plate (stunning Old Library refurb to a trendy bar/restaurant….NY feel in the Shire) yummy long lunch and dinner option too!
If you are after a more casual dinner with the kids, maybe after the beach, head to Queen Margharita for yummy pizza and salad or my fave Yalla Sawa / the best in Greek food, i mean so yum! pomegranate and eggplant salads with the most amazing tagines !! a regular visit for our family! Be sure to stop by Frangipani for the yummiest Gelatos too!
I have only covered a tiny bit here….so much more to see and do! every chance I get we are back down to the Shire for sand, surf and family visits. x b
P.S. The new Westfield Miranda is BEYOND!
